Feed the hungry children orphaned by HIV/ AIDS in South Africa  



Even though the HIV/AIDS pandemic is of global concern, the effects of the disease are most profoundly felt by the children who have been orpharned by HIV / AIDS disease.

  

The prevalence of HIV and AIDS for the country was estimated at 14,2 % in July 2002. At the same point in time, the prevalence for KwaZulu-Natal was estimated at 18,4%. It was estimated that there were more than 885 000 maternal orphans in the country in July 2002, with KwaZulu-Natal accounting for 26% of the total orphans and 35,5% of the total AIDS orphans

 

Mpumalanga township has known war and conflict. A township that has experienced bloodbath Black on Black political violence which led to many people losing their lives,  losing  their homes and schooling was disrupted

 

The township was built between 1968 and 1972 and divided into four units. Mpumalanga Township has been hard-hit by the HIV/Aids epidemic.

 

The incidence of rape as well as the sexual demands has created a rampant spread of the virus. Mpumalanga Township has a profound number of orphans as a result of HIV/Aids. For children living without their parents, the emotional and psychological effects can be severe.
